The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa’s Myron B. Thompson School of Social Work 80th Anniversary gala was held at the ’s Mānoa Grand Ballroom on October 28. The Gala honored (1895–1986), Senator and the . In addition to showcasing honorees, the School of Social Work celebrated their 2016 U.S. News and World Report ranking in the top 25 percent of schools nationally.
Proceeds from the gala and silent auction will be used to develop an endowed student scholarship.
“In 2016 social work education celebrates its 80th anniversary at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. The legacy and longevity of social work is rooted in the premise that social work helps people in need,” said Dean Noreen Mokuau “When we lift those who are the most vulnerable, we in fact lift everyone in the global community.”
