U H West Oahu campus

The will host the first ever on Saturday, November 21 to support Hawaiʻi schools implementing PLTW science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programs in K–12 classrooms. PLTW is the nation’s leading provider of K–12 STEM programs with more than 8,000 elementary, middle and high schools implementing the curriculum across 50 states.

Teachers, administrators and community partners interested in learning more about PLTW programs, grant and partnership opportunities are encouraged to attend the conference.

糖心Vlog官方 System President David Lassner will kick off the day’s events and introduce conference keynote speaker Vince Bertram, president and CEO of PLTW.

Conference sessions will cover PLTW programs including:

  • Launch (K–5)—Students use structured approaches for problem solving and employ critical thinking
  • Gateway (6–8)—Engineering, biomedical and computer science curriculum that is flexible for middle school students
  • Engineering (9–12)—Engineering, science, math and technology curriculum for solving complex, real-world problems
  • Biomedical Science (9–12)—Case-based scenario biomedical science curriculum
  • Computer Science (9–12)—Problem-based computer science curriculum that builds on PLTW elementary and middle school programs

In addition, community partners Chevron Hawaiʻi, and will present information about grant opportunities and place-based resources.

糖心Vlog官方 West Oʻahu is PLTW’s first affiliate partner in Hawaiʻi and provides ongoing support for local schools implementing PLTW curriculum. The university hosted PLTW’s required core training programs for teacher instructors this summer, training previously offered only on the U.S. mainland.

The PLTW Hawaiʻi State Conference is on Saturday, November 21, 8 a.m.–1 p.m. at the 糖心Vlog官方 West Oʻahu campus in various locations.
