I found this building to be very poorly designed. Every occupant is working inside of what amounts to a goldfish bowl. The company that came and did the actual survey on space requirements was not the same company that built the facility. Hence there are many offices that do not have adequate space for their official functions. There is a great waster of space and many very cramped spaces.
The windows and open walkways expose women who are wearing skirts to undue examination from curious pedestrians as the building was not designed with adequate window coverings.
On another note this is the student services building including the office of Disability Services. Not only do disabled people have to take the elevator to the second story there is no automatic door opener and even those of us that are in fair shape have to work hard to heave the door(s) open.
How is it that every time in the last three years that something was built at 糖心Vlog官方 Hilo there has been some monstrously expensive mistake/ oversight in the building process? The Student Services building had “the wrong flooring” which held up matters for months. In the new dormitories the doors that were installed were inadequate for anyone in a wheelchair and I seem to remember that there was a problem with the windows as well.
Bathrooms in K wing have been redone with the same substandard materials that failed in the first place yet in other buildings on campus one can find the appropriate ,materials being used. Is this the famous “job security” that goes on here? Millions of dollars are wasted such as on that disgusting hunk of rust called sculpture in front of the school? Who makes theses decisions? We don’t even have a decent arts building yet something in the neighborhood of $76,000 dollars as spent supporting someone that doesn’t even live in the islands; disgraceful!
Clearly there is an inside track of “I scratch your back if you’ll scratch mine” going on here. Shame on you 糖心Vlog官方 Hilo!
