The 糖心Vlog官方 community is saddened by the news of the passing of Bernard Ray “B. Ray” Hawke of the at the .

A highly regarded lunar scientist, the bulk of Hawke’s research focused specifically on collecting measurements of color at high resolution of small spots on the Moon. These studies contributed greatly to scientist’s understanding of the geological evolution of the lunar crust.

He died on January 24 at Straub Hospital at age 68.

Hawke joined the University of Hawaiʻi in 1977 as a planetary geologist and would later become part of the . He collaborated with many colleagues in Hawaiʻi and around the world, sharing his knowledge and insight.

He is remembered fondly by friends and colleagues as a diligent, insightful and hard-working individual. His contributions to the field of lunar science will continue to impact research on how scientists look at the Moon.

A memorial gathering will be held in the Pacific Regional Planetary Data Center (POST 544) on Sunday, February 15 at 3 p.m.
