
The annual at offers a family-oriented day of engaging educational exhibits, carnival games, food booths, entertainment and a variety of Safe Communities activities and information. The fair will take place on Saturday, November 1, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. on the Pearl City campus. Admission and parking are free.
Highlights include more than 50 bustling hands-on learning activities for the entire family. For the third year in a row, the fair also features informative activities from and Safe Communities Day. Fair partipants can meet HPD’s trained dogs, fight virtual fires and explore a variety of emergency vehicles.
Returning crowd-favorites include Leeward 5-0, a mock crime scene investigation; Quicksand Goo, a mysterious substance that’s both solid and liquid; Mad Hatter, creating wearable hats from recycled materials; BONES, a forensic puzzle waiting to be solved; and the Dollar Book Sale.
Additional Discovery Fair offerings include:
- Bug City: a close up look and feel of the creepy, crawly insect world
- Polymer Worms: squiggle, squeeze and turn liquids into solids
- Instant Snow: make snow magically appear
- Chemistry Magic: freeze a flower or shrink a balloon with liquid nitrogen
- Rockets: create and launch your personalized rocket
- Galactic Games: a galaxy of carnival games
“This unique partnership between Leeward Community College and Weed and Seed Hawaiʻi is wonderful, as we work together to make education fun for the youth and their families,” said Manny Cabral, chancellor of Leeward Community College.
Entry to this event is free, however, some games and activities will have nominal fees.
