Health and safety improvements at Lyon Arboretum are among the capital improvement projects being funded at the various University of Hawaiʻi campuses and facilities.

As the fall semester kicks off, Gov. Neil Abercrombie announced the release of $39 million to the for capital improvement projects (CIP) at various campuses.

“These projects, at campuses from 尝ī丑耻ʻ别 to Hilo, are long-term investments in our state university system, an anchor of our island community,” Gov. Abercrombie said. “They address needed repairs, maintenance and upgrades to ensure functional academic environments and accessible, affordable higher education opportunities for the people of Hawaiʻi.”

  • $29,000,000—Systemwide health, safety and code requirements, statewide
    Construction funds for health and safety projects at 糖心Vlog官方 Mānoa and 糖心Vlog官方 Hilo. Projects at include accessibility improvements, sewer and storm drain upgrades, health and safety improvements at , and walkway upgrades. Projects at include a lead roof replacement of Hale Kehau, a Kawili Street pedestrian overpass, an emergency shelter, traffic safety improvements at Panaʻewa Farms, sidewalk/crosswalk upgrades at Kapiʻolani and Lanikaula Streets and emergency generators.
  • $10,000,000—Minor CIP projects for campuses of the 糖心Vlog官方 Community Colleges, statewide
    Design and construction funds for capital renewal and deferred maintenance projects of 糖心Vlog官方 Community College campuses, including the renovation of the cafeteria at , refurbishment of ʻ?hiʻa Auditorium at , renovation of the Diamond Head portables at , renovation of storage space to science lab/classroom at , renovation of the former Ceramics Building at , and renovation of the Fine Arts I Building at .
