Special projects may include assisting with library instruction, open educational resource training and promotion, reference services, and archival duties. Efforts will be made to tailor special projects to the unique interests of the intern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:8px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">Library\/Collection Description<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The James &amp; Abigail Campbell Library, in supporting the mission of the University of Hawai\u02bbi at West Oahu, is committed to providing excellent, user-centered service in meeting the informational needs of students, faculty and staff. Using innovative technologies, our librarians develop, organize, preserve and deliver scholarly print and electronic resources and instruction that empower students to become engaged, life-long learners. Through our services, collections, teaching and outreach, the library honors and supports diverse learning styles, perspectives and interests intrinsic to a liberal arts education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:8px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">Required Qualifications<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>LIS 601 Introduction to Reference &amp; Information Services<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>LIS 610 Foundations of Information Professions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:8px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">Desired Qualifications<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Self-starter who works well with others and needs minimal supervision<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Detail-oriented<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interest in gaining experience in academic librarianship at a four-year university<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:8px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">Weekly Schedule<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Flexible. 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday. Minimum of two hours per session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:8px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">Goals and Outcomes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Familiarity with the wide range of skills expected of academic librarians<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Introduction to and experience with teaching information literacy concepts (via in-person instruction or online tutorials)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to effectively create multimedia resources<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:8px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">Evaluation Methods<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Verbal and written feedback will be provided to the intern on an ongoing basis, including during scheduled monthly meetings. The standard LIS 690 evaluation form will be completed at the end of the internship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:8px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">Evaluation Schedule<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Monthly update meetings between the student and the supervisor will occur during the course of the internship.
