Internship Description<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This internship will provide an LIS student with training and experience with various online instruction duties and projects.\u00a0These may include synchronous online workshop sessions for core undergraduate courses as well as the creation of tutorials, infographics, guides, games, or other online instructional materials and assessments designed around the ACRL Information Literacy Framework.\u00a0The internship may be customized depending on the interests of the intern and goals of the library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Library\/Collection Description<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Edwin H. Mookini Library, completed in 1981, serves as the general academic library for both ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ Hilo and Hawai\u2018i Community College. These two campuses together offer a variety of academic programs from the associate to doctoral level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Required Qualifications<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

LIS 601 Introduction to Reference & Information Services<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Desired Qualifications<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

LIS 686 Information Literacy & Learning Resources<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or significant interest in academic librarianship and information literacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Weekly Schedule<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Approximately 10 hours per week. Specific schedule to be determined jointly by the intern and the\u00a0supervising librarian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Goals and Outcomes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Experience with teaching information literacy concepts via online workshops and tutorials.\u00a0Ability to effectively create multimedia resources.\u00a0Specific goals will be determined by the student\u2019s background and areas of interest, as well as department projects and needs at the time of the internship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Evaluation Methods<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Interns will be expected to demonstrate progressive knowledge and skill over the course of the semester. Evaluation areas include:\u00a0willingness to learn, reliability, ability to complete tasks and assignments in an efficient and timely manner, ability to communicate effectively, ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Evaluation Schedule<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A letter of assignment will list duties for the semester with expected deadlines.\u00a0Regular reports and discussions with the supervising librarian are expected.\u00a0Verbal and written feedback will be provided to the intern on an ongoing basis, including during scheduled meetings via Zoom.\u00a0At the end of the semester, the intern will be evaluated using the LIS 690 evaluation form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
