This IMLS grant-supported fellowship is <strong>for students with a demonstrated interest in audio and visual media archives.<\/strong> The fellow will engage in the digital preservation of public media collections held at <a href=\"http:\/\/uluulu.hawaii.edu\/\">\u02bbUlu\u02bbulu: The Henry Ku\u2018ualoha Giugni Moving Image Archive of Hawai\u02bbi<\/a> at the University of Hawai\u02bbi-West Oahu, using equipment that is located in \u02bbUlu\u02bbulu.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Each fellow will receive a stipend for their work over the course of the fellowship, at the rate of $23\/hour for $5,152 per semester<\/li>\n<li>Fellows are expected to work 16 hours\/week on the fellowship over fourteen weeks in the Fall and fourteen weeks in the Spring semester, for a total of 224 hours per semester.<\/li>\n<li>This an in-person fellowship and includes an archivist mentor and a faculty advisor. The weekly fellowship work site is at \u02bbUlu\u02bbulu.<\/li>\n<li>The fellowship will begin with a three-day, in-person Immersion Training, with all travel costs covered and organized by the fellowship. Dates, locations, and schedule for the Immersion Training will be finalized by May 2022.<\/li>\n<li>Fellows will receive travel funding to attend the AMIA 2022 Fall Conference.<\/li>\n<li>Prior to the start of the fellowship, fellows will be included in a series of free educational webinars over the summer of 2022 to provide basic training in audiovisual preservation concepts.<\/li>\n<li>Fellow will inventory, assess, digitize, create metadata records, and submit materials to the <a href=\"https:\/\/americanarchive.org\/\">American Archive of Public Broadcasting<\/a>. Fellows may also create manuals, blog posts, workshops, and conference presentations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Eligibility Requirements:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Applicants must be students in the ÌÇÐÄVlog¹Ù·½ M\u0101noa Master of Library &amp; Information Science Program at the time of appointment and must have a demonstrated interest in archives, preservation, and\/or broadcast media<\/li>\n<li>Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher<\/li>\n<li>Be able to attend a three-day immersive training out of state (fully funded)<\/li>\n<li>Students from historically marginalized communities are especially encouraged to apply<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Submission Requirements:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Statement (no more than 2 pages) that addresses the class taken and\/or work experience that shows your interest in working with AV materials and digital preservation; and reason for interest in the Fellowship, especially work and\/or experience with Hawaiian materials or communities<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Please submit all application materials to Dr. Rich Gazan (<a href=\"mailto:gazan@hawaii.edu\">gazan@hawaii.edu<\/a>) by April 22, 2022.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>This is an Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) grant awarded to WGBH (GBH) Educational Foundation in Boston for the <a href=\"https:\/\/pbpf.americanarchive.org\/about-the-fellowships\/\">Public Broadcasting Preservation Fellowship<\/a>.
