I ulu n艒 ka l膩l膩 i ke kumu: Branches grow because of the trunk. An 驶艒lelo no驶eau speaking about the importance of ancestors and kumu (sources). Learn how a project,that started as a small seed in an LIS class, grew into a tree of sources that help our l膩hui and Hawai驶i communities to find their roots.
Presenter Bios:
Kylie Flood is the Hawaiian Pacific & Adult Collections Librarian at N膩n膩kuli Public Library. Collection development, programming, displays, and community engagement are a large part of her k奴leana at N膩n膩kuli Public Library. She received her Masters in Library Information Science at the University of Hawa驶i at M膩noa in 2016. Kylie attributes her success, resiliency, and industriousness to all her k奴puna who came before her and to the village of 驶ohana and hoaloha who continue to guide her.
Kawena Komeiji is from Nu驶uanu, Kona, O驶ahu with ancestral roots in Waialua and Ko驶olauloa moku. Kawena currently lives and works in Honouliuli, 驶Ewa, O驶ahu as the Hawai驶i-Pacific Resources Librarian in the James and Abigail Kuaihelani Campbell Library at the University of Hawai驶i 鈥 West O驶ahu. As an aloha 驶膩ina 驶oia驶i驶o and a fierce proponent for ea, she enjoys working with the l膩hui Hawai驶i and giving back to the 驶膩ina that has sustained her 驶ohana for generations.
Michiko Joseph is from M膩kaha, O驶ahu. She is currently serving as the Interim Library Director at the University of Hawai鈥榠 West O驶ahu where she is primarily responsible for the planning efforts, budgeting, personnel, and assessment at the 糖心Vlog官方WO library. Michiko earned her bachelor鈥檚 degrees in Psychology from the University of Hawai驶i West O驶ahu and a Master of Library and Information Science degree from 糖心Vlog官方 M膩noa.
