The university sponsors its own <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/shs\/student_insurance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP)<\/a>. SHIP is a fully comprehensive plan, which means it covers a wider range of situations and services. However, students may purchase other options as long as they meet minimum requirements set by the university. Health insurance may be purchased before you arrive in the U.S. Go to the ISS <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/issmanoa\/?page_id=39\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Health Insurance page<\/a> to read about insurance minimums and proof requirements.<\/p>\n<p><em>***Please be aware that many inexpensive \"travel\" insurance plans may not offer the comprehensive benefits that you may need while you are studying in the U.S., and many healthcare providers, including the campus Health Clinic, may not accept these insurance plans. So, you may have to pay the full cost of your medical visits yourself and then deal with reimbursements with your health insurance company.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>How do I submit proof of health insurance?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>J-1 students<\/strong> must show proof of health insurance to the <strong>ISS Office<\/strong>. They must have their health insurance provider complete and sign the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/issmanoa\/?page_id=14548#documents_records\">J-1 Health Insurance Provider Certification form<\/a>. This form, once completed, should be included in Step 3 of the Immigration Course document submission.<\/li>\n<li><strong>F-1 students<\/strong> must show proof of health insurance to the <strong>Student Health Insurance Office (SHIO)<\/strong>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hawaii.edu\/shs\/international\/insurance_clearance.php\">糖心Vlog官方 their website and follow the instructions to submit<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>IMPORTANT:<\/strong><\/p>\n<table style=\"border-collapse: collapse; width: 71.2878%;\" border=\"1\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%; background-color: #f0dada; text-align: center;\">If you do not prove that you have adequate health insurance by the start of the semester, a hold will be placed on your student account.
