Dear CIS Community,<\/p>\n

Please join us in celebrating the election of Helen Wong Smith as the new vice president\/president-elect of the Society of American Archivists<\/a> (SAA).  Helen is currently the Archivist for University Records for the University of Hawai`i.  She is known for her work on cultural competency in archives and allied professions and conducts workshops nationally<\/a> and locally<\/a>. The results of her survey on the status of cultural competency for the Council of State Archivists to increase access to born-digital and digitized government records was recently released<\/a>.<\/p>\n
